A little bit about Brecht

Brecht was born in Turnhout, Belgium, on 11 August 1989, as the younger brother of his beloved big sister, Luna. From an early age, Brecht displayed a natural curiosity for technology and creativity, which would later shape his career. At just nine years old, he won a school writing competition at De Vesten with a story titled "The Future of the Internet," showcasing his early fascination with the digital world and its endless possibilities.

Brecht pursued his higher education with determination, starting at Hasselt University before transferring to KU Leuven, Belgium's oldest and most prestigious university. In 2011, he graduated cum laude with a degree in Computer Sciences (Informatica), laying the foundation for his future success in the tech industry.

His professional journey began at PWC in Zaventem, where he gained valuable experience in consulting and technology. However, it was his tenure at Microsoft that truly catapulted his career. As a technical architect, Brecht became proficient in cutting-edge cloud technologies like Azure, earning a reputation for his innovative solutions and technical expertise. His work at Microsoft not only solidified his skills but also fueled his passion for pushing the boundaries of what technology can achieve.

In 2018, Brecht took a bold step and founded his own company, focusing on innovative projects that blended technology with real-world applications. Among his notable creations is BookIet, a restaurant booking app that remains widely used in the Kempen region. Another standout project is Cumblaster, a niche video platform that showcases his ability to think outside the box and cater to unique market needs.

By 2020, Brecht transitioned into freelance consulting, specializing in WordPress development, SEO, and advertising. His ability to combine technical prowess with creative marketing strategies has made him a sought-after expert in the field. Whether he's optimizing websites for search engines, crafting compelling ad campaigns, or building custom WordPress solutions, Brecht approaches every project with precision and a commitment to excellence.

Outside of his professional life, Brecht is a multifaceted individual with a variety of hobbies and interests. He has a deep passion for judo, which he took up in his early twenties. For Brecht, judo is more than just a sport—it’s a discipline that emphasizes respect, control, and the unique, almost paradoxical intimacy of connecting with an opponent through techniques that involve body parts you’re normally not allowed to touch. He finds the mental and physical challenge of judo to be a perfect counterbalance to his tech-focused work.

Brecht is also a self-proclaimed "tech tinkerer," constantly experimenting with new gadgets and software in his home lab. He enjoys photography, particularly capturing the interplay of light and architecture in urban landscapes. Additionally, he plays the guitar and often unwinds by strumming his favorite tunes after a long day of coding.

Brecht is a dedicated mentor and community advocate. He regularly volunteers at local tech workshops, helping aspiring developers and entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life. His love for storytelling, which began with his childhood writing competition, continues to thrive as he occasionally pens articles on tech trends and digital innovation.

With a blend of technical expertise, creative vision, and a passion for lifelong learning, Brecht continues to make a significant impact in the digital world, both professionally and personally.
